WOW 2010 Scholarship Winners!

Message from Karen Young, WOW (Women of Wai`anae) president:

I'm pleased to announce the WOW 2010 scholarship winners:
Grandwinner 2010: Florence Eli-Adams, pursuing a degree in Education
Grandwinner 2010: Errol Kia`i Lee, pursuing a degree in Liberal Ars, and Social Work
Runner up 2010: Destiny Keliikoa, pursuing a Teaching Degree
Runner up 2010: Nicole Kila, pursuing a degree in Health Administration
Runner up 2010: Shawn Clarene Kalawa, pursuing a degree in Early Education.

The Women of Wai'anae is a small group of women who have yard sales and tea parties throughout the year to produce scholarships for Wai'anae residents who have gone back to college or in a job training program. We thank all of you who helped in as donors, customers, and helpers. A big congratulations to our winners! We wish them every success!

Where: Corner of Ala Poko St. and Pokai Bay St. (Wai`anae, across Hannara's Restaurant)
Why: To raise funds for scholarships for Wai`anae Coast residents

Anamarie Piloton plans to obtain a BS degree to become a Counselor/case manager.Errol Kia'i Lee plans to obtain a degree in Family Resources.Lisa Ramos plans to obtain an Elementary Teaching degree.Dember Domen plans to obtain a degree in Business/Human Resources.Angela Lacey plans to obtain a Teaching degree.

Thank you to ALL of the people who have contributed to our scholarship fund - either monetarily, or through donations to our yard sales or our Tea Parties. We'd also like to thank our faithful Yard Sale customers!

People's Path City Grant Submitted on June 1, 2009

WOW submitted a grant request for the People's Path, which will span the entire Wai`anae Coast of O`ahu from Nanakuli to Makaha. It will connect the state’s planned bike path ending at Lualualei Naval Road to the rest of the coastline, making use of city and state lands and integrating with existing public services infrastructure where possible. This project’s objective is to produce a multi-use, recreational path that is a 90% Type I Bike path with a width of 10 feet and will utilize low-maintenance stratum such as concrete.
The request comprised the following documents:

3. Executive Summary

Dennis is donating a futon couch for the yard sale. It's in good condition, and he's bringing it over this weekend. It's open for presale -- anyone interested can make an offer ! Thanks again, Dennis !
